A single reach forklift, also known as a reach truck, is a type of forklift designed specifically for use in narrow aisle environments, commonly found in warehouses and distribution centers. These forklifts are equipped with an extendable carriage that allows them to "reach" into racking systems to pick up and deposit pallets without the operator having to move closer to the racks themselves. This functionality makes them ideal for efficiently storing and retrieving loads in high-density storage environments, as they can maneuver in tighter spaces while still being able to access loads stored deeper within the racks. Unlike double reach forklifts, single reach forklifts have a more straightforward extension mechanism, limiting them to accessing loads no deeper than the first pallet position.
